Do you have a spirited performer in the house? If so, we have some EXCITING NEWS!
The Vernon Hills Sports Club is announcing the start of our very first Recreational Poms Program! Open registration will begin very soon for our upcoming Cougarettes! We will be supporting our local youth and high school football and basketball teams while blowing away our Cougar fans, friends and families with our performances! We will also be joining the Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association, which will allow us to choose to participate in IRCA sponsored events as well to be determined by our coaches and with interest provided by our participating families.
Keep your eyes open for more details on the program and the opening of registration in the coming days. Plan to stop in at one of our walk-in registrations to ask any questions and meet the coaches!
Feel free to reach out to Tina our new Commissioner of Poms via email as well with any questions you may have at firstname.lastname@example.org
Finally, we want to thank the community for your wonderful feedback to our recent survey regarding this new program. Your overwhelming support is directly responsible for this exciting announcement!
The 2015 tackle football online registration is now open. We will also have a walk-in registration on April 6, 2015 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the VH Cougars facility located at 50 Lakeview Parkway Suite 106.
Thank you for your participation in our 2014-2015 basketball program. As the season comes to a close, we would like to ask for a few minutes of your time to fill out the survey found on the below link. Your feedback will help our program continue to improve and be the very best possible experience for our kids and community.
The Vernon Hills Sports Club is considering beginning a Vernon Hills Cougars POM Squad and would appreciate your input. Please take a few moments to answer the questions in the survey below.
Like all of our sports programming, our philosophy is to provide a fun experience for our participating athletes while teaching, encouraging, and fostering:
Self esteem and self confidence
Creativity and self expression
Teamwork and camaraderie
Respect, discipline, cooperation, and preparation for a shared goal
Season: It is anticipated that the season would coincide with the VH Cougars Football season, which runs from roughly August through October. We are also working with the High School, so we anticipate that our POMS squads would perform at our youth football home games as well as at one or more High School events. We would be willing to allow for performances at select away games as well, if allowed by our league, and we can get permission from the host program. We are also considering a potential second season during the winter where the teams would perform at various Youth and High School Basketball events as well.
Teams: Depending on interest, we are considering grouping the girls as follows:
Open Board Positions for the Vernon Hills Community Baseball & Softball (VHCBS) are now available to review and we encourage parents who are interested in volunteering to please review the postings. The position profile can be found by clicking here.
If you are interested in applying for one of the positions please email Bill Polisson at stating the position you are interested in posting for and providing a brief background of yourself including qualification by Sunday March 15th. Mr. Polisson will contact interested parties to discuss next steps.
We are pleased to provide you with the video link to the meeting held with the Vernon Hills Park District to announce the formation of our two new youth sports organizations. We feel the meeting was very positive and well received by those in attendance. Unfortunately, the printed report that has been circulating and printed in the Vernon Hills Review contains many factual inaccuracies and presents a tone and message that is inconsistent with what actually occurred.
We invite you to watch the video and draw your own conclusion and please feel free to reach out to your sport commissioners or board members with any questions you may have. Both boards are still actively asking for volunteers for new board positions. If you are interested in participating in the continued success of our programming, please contact us for consideration. We look forward to exceeding your expectations and meeting the needs of our kids.
